Ways to pay for a TV Licence

A standard TV Licence costs £154.50 and we offer a choice of payment methods to suit you. You can pay in one go, or spread the cost with a range of Direct Debit options or a TV Licensing payment card.

Make one payment every 12 months

Yearly | £154.50

With an annual Direct Debit, your licence will be automatically renewed each year.

Make a single payment by debit or credit card. You can also pay by cheque, postal order or BACS, or by taking a debit card or cash to any PayPoint.

Spread the cost with a Direct Debit

Monthly | from £12.87

Pay for your first licence by Direct Debit in six months, at around £25.75 a month. Then pay for the next one in monthly instalments of around £12.87.

Quarterly | from £39.87

Make four Direct Debit payments throughout the year. If you pay this way, each payment will include a £1.25 charge.

Choose our payment card for greater flexibility

Weekly, fortnightly or monthly | from £6

Our payment card gives you the flexibility to pay for your licence weekly and fortnightly, or monthly. Once it is set up you can pay online, at any PayPoint, by phone or by text.

Want to buy a black and white TV Licence?

A black and white TV Licence costs £52. It covers you to watch any live TV and stream BBC programmes on iPlayer using a black and white TV or monitor. But, if you download BBC programmes on iPlayer or record any live TV, you must have a colour TV Licence.
