Your TV licence starts on the day you buy it, and will cover you for up to a year. For example, if you buy a licence today, it’ll cover you for the rest of this month and 11 months after that. Once your TV Licence has expired, you must renew it to ensure you're covered to watch, record, stream or download licensable TV.
To find out when your TV Licence expires or if it has expired, you'll need your licence number, last name, and postcode of the licence holder.
Don't know your TV Licence number?
If you receive your licence through the post, the expiry date will be on your TV Licence.
If you pay for your licence by Direct Debit or payment card your licence will automatically renew.
