If you’re paying for a licence in full for £159, it’s possible to pay by post.

How to pay by cheque or postal order

  • Make payable to TV Licensing
  • Check that the amount in words and numbers matches
  • Use today’s date (not post-dated)
  • If paying by cheque, please make sure it’s signed
  • Please write the following on the back of the cheque:
    Your name and address
    Your current TV Licence number if you’re renewing

Send your payment to

Your TV Licence will then be sent to you in the post within 10 working days. You’ll also be able to view your licence online.

Are you over 74 years old?

If you are aged 74 or over, you could be entitled to a free over 75 TV Licence. If you are 74 and receive Pension Credit you won’t need to pay for a full year’s licence. But we can’t give you an exact amount until we know how many months you need cover for.
