Can I buy a TV Licence for less than a year?

You can buy a TV Licence for less than a year but only if you're aged 74 and will turn 75 before your next TV Licence is due to expire.

The government funded, free over 75 TV Licence scheme is being replaced on 1 June 2020.

Sometimes it may appear that your expiry date is less 12 months. This may be due to you telling us you needed a licence before you bought one.

In all other cases you may be able to claim a refund if you do not need the licence for the full year.
