Get your must-have pass to live TV.

Dr Who, Traitors, Glastonbury and other tv programmes

Love live TV? You need a TV Licence.

To enjoy all that live TV has to offer, you need a TV Licence. That way you and your household will be covered to watch the TV you love, whatever TV service, streaming service or device you're watching on. A licence also covers you to use BBC iPlayer*.

So, if you don’t already have a TV Licence, buy yours now.

When you need a TV Licence

Number one Watch TV on all channels on any TV service
(like BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Dave and international channels)?

Number two Watch TV on Pay TV services
(like Sky, Virgin Media and BT)?

Number three Watch live TV on streaming services
(like YouTube and Amazon Prime Video)?

Number four Watch TV on foreign channels, via satellite or online streaming?

Number five Use BBC iPlayer?*

This includes recording and downloading. On any device.

Mobile phone
Laptop computer
TV
Tablet device
Games console controller

Doing any of the above? The rules say you need a TV Licence.

That way, you’ll be legally covered to enjoy all the drama of live TV. Like a last-minute penalty or soap cliffhanger. Or the uproar over a judge’s score. It’ll also cover you if you’re watching BBC programmes on BBC iPlayer.

*A licence is not needed to watch S4C programmes on demand.
