According to figures released today by TV Licensing, August is the busiest month for moving house, so TV Licensing is reminding summer home movers and renters to ‘take their TV Licence Check with them.’
Over the last year, TV Licensing has helped over 800,000 UK home movers transfer their TV Licence from their old address to their new residence, with more than 80,000 people moving home in August. The busiest day, Monday 20 August 2012, saw 4,309 people change their address with TV Licensing.
Mondays are clearly favoured by UK home movers as a day for personal chores and paperwork. Of the top 25 days for people amending their TV Licence details last year, 21 fell on a Monday and four on a Tuesday.
TV Licensing is reminding people to make sure they change the address of their TV Licence when they move house. Home movers can update their TV Licence details quickly and easily online at tvlicensing.co.uk/moving at any time of day or night.
Stephen Farmer, spokesperson for TV Licensing said:
Whether you’re a home owner or renting, moving house can be stressful at the best of times. TV Licensing would like to remind ‘movers’ to take a few minutes out from the chaos of packing and unpacking to update their details. To make it even easier, home movers can change the address of their TV Licence up to three months before they move, so it’s one less thing to think about before the big day arrives.
TV Licensing has launched a new trail to encourage people to move their TV Licence when moving house. The trails will air on BBC channels throughout August, and are available on the TV Licensing YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/tvlicensing
