Blind concessionary

Blind (severely sight impaired) customers can get a half price TV Licence. You can apply by completing our online application form.

Please include a copy of your evidence when you complete your application. Below are the types of evidence we accept:

  • CVI (Certificate of Visual Impairment) showing that you are blind (severely sight impaired)
  • BD8 Certificate stating that you are blind (severely sight impaired)
  • A certificate or other document issued by, or on behalf of, a Local Authority showing that you are blind (severely sight impaired)
  • A copy of a certificate from your Ophthalmologist stating that you are blind (severely sight impaired)
  • Tax coding notice from HMRC showing you receive Blind person’s allowance
  • A copy of your National Registration Card signed by an Ophthalmologist stating that your are blind (severely sight impaired)
  • DHSS documentation or certificate stating that your are blind (severely sight impaired) for Isle of Man residents only
  • Health and Social Services documentation or letter from Optometrist for residents of Northern Ireland only
 

Why do we need proof that you are blind?

It is a legal requirement that we receive proof of your entitlement before we set up a 'blind concession' TV Licence for you.
