If you use TV receiving equipment to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV in your second home, you need to make sure that it is correctly licensed.
This includes the use of a TV set, digital box, DVD or video recorder, computer or mobile phone.
- If your second home is a house, cottage, flat, bungalow or any other permanent building, and you use TV receiving equipment to watch or record TV there, you need to have a separate TV Licence to cover this address.
Your TV Licence for your main home won't cover you in your second home except in the following limited circumstances: a.) you only use TV receiving equipment that is powered by its internal batteries; and b.) you have not installed it (e.g. connected it to an aerial or plugged it into the mains) to receive TV; and c.) you have a valid TV Licence for your main home.
- If your second home is a static caravan, mobile home or moveable chalet, and you use TV receiving equipment there at the same time as TV receiving equipment is being used in your main licensed home, you need a separate TV Licence to cover your second home.
However, if the TV in your static caravan, mobile home or moveable chalet is never in use at the same time as the TV in your main home, you don't need a separate licence. But you do need to complete a declaration form and return it to us so that we can update our records. Please call 0844 800 6790 for a declaration form.
- If your second home is a boat or touring caravan or vehicle, and you use TV receiving equipment to watch or record TV there, you don't need a separate TV Licence. You will be covered by the TV Licence for your main home.
