Can I pay, get reminders and other information by text?

Text services are currently available to payment and savings card customers.

Can I pay by text?

If you've previously made a debit/credit card payment towards your TV Licence, simply text PAY followed by your customer number along with the amount you wish to pay to 64488 (e.g. to pay £6.00, text PAY 123456789 6.00). Your customer number is printed on your payment schedule. Savings card customers can also text PAY to 64488 to save towards their next TV Licence. If you haven’t already made a payment using your debit or credit card please call 0300 555 0286*.

We'll never ask you to text your full debit/credit card number or details. All texts will be charged at your standard text message cost set by your mobile phone service provider.

Can you send me a text reminding me to pay?

To receive free text messages (SMS) to let you know when you have missed a payment, just text CUST and your customer number to 64488 to opt in (e.g. CUST 123456789). To cancel, text STOP and your customer number to 64488.

What information can you text me about my cash payment plan?
If you text INFO followed by your customer number (eg: INFO 123456789) to 64488 we'll send you the following:

  • TV Licence expiry date.
  • Date and amount of last payment received.
  • Balance*.
  • *Savings card customers can receive their balance by text.

    Please note that it may take 48 hours from the time you make your payment for it to appear on your payment history.

    All texts will be charged at your standard text message cost set by your mobile phone service provider.

How do I opt out of text services?

If you are already receiving text messages and would like to opt out of text services please text STOP and your customer number to 64488 (e.g. STOP 123456789).
