How do I tell you about an unoccupied address or empty property?

You can tell us your property is empty, and we’ll stop sending letters to your address, for up to six months.

You can tell us when you expect your property to be occupied by using our online form (please answer ‘no’ to ‘does anyone live at the address’). If you receive a letter before we deal with your request please ignore it.

If you already have a licence which you no longer need because your property is empty you should cancel it first.

If you’d prefer to write to us (for example, to let us know the licence holder has died) please use the address below:

TV Licensing
Darlington
DL98 1TL

When you get in touch please tell us the licence holder’s:

  • title, initial and last name;
  • licence number or Customer number (if you have one)
  • address and postcode;
  • date the property will be occupied.
